Is ChatGPT Good or Evil? Ethics of the New AI

Résumé: Millions of people are using ChatGPT and similar AI models for productive purposes in education, medicine, art, and many other areas. But these models also pose numerous threats to human well-being, concerning issues such as employment, privacy, creativity, personal relationships, misinformation, and even extinction. AI researchers have approached these problems with ethical frameworks based on preferences and on alignment of human and machine values, but these approaches are inadequate to deal with serious risks. This talk advances principles for AI ethics based on human needs, with implications for government regulation.

La conférence, qui sera donnée en anglais, se tiendra au local W5215, de 15h00 à 17h00.

La séance sera aussi accessible via zoom; inscription obligatoire ici: https://uqam.zoom.us/j/81774484103
